RonnieAdventure #0706 - World Kite Festival, Las Vegas, NV

The director of "Love in the Sky: World Kite Festival" said it was a horrible day in Las Vegas. Sunny, 70 degrees, high Stratus clouds, and no wind. NO WIND! How can you have a kite festival with no wind? To help get the kites up in the air, people with leaf blowers ran around trying to generate enough airflow to lift them. Once the kites were 20-30 feet off the ground, a slight breeze at a higher elevation kept them aloft.

People who did not bring their own kite could purchase one at the event, or there were kite-making workshops where children and adults could build, decorate, and launch their own creations.

As additional activities, there were games for children and food trucks with a variety of foods. There was also a stage with live music, acts, and youth groups that performed throughout the day.

Since our entrance tickets were good for the entire day, we went home in the afternoon and then returned in the evening. There was a very slight breeze, but it was enough to get some of the larger kites in the air.

The larger kites, which were illuminated, could change color while in the air, creating an interesting night show.
